Alison Ogden walked onto the Building the Band set with confidence singing ‘Dangerous Woman’ by Ariana Grande. Her performance led to sixteen people hitting the like button allowing her to move on to the next stage of the competition. Throughout Ogden’s journey, it was filled with a roller coaster of events, from differences of opinions with fellow bandmates to battling that “main character” energy and more. I had the pleasure of chatting with Ogden about her time on the show, navigating the obstacles of Sweet Seduction, and what’s ahead.
From the moment I watched Building The Band, my number one goal was to have a chat with Alison. I had done interviews with SZN4, Soulidified, and 3Quency, but I knew that this journey of watching the show would not have been complete without chatting with her. She was a polarizing figure on the show who I felt like was often misunderstood. While I don’t agree with everything that Ogden did on the show, I also saw a talented singer who knew what she wanted from this competition and opportunity. The world criticize, her for her directness, and even in our chat, Ogden mentions it’s something she is trying to work on.

We explored much of what unfolded in front of our eyes while Ogden shared more insight on the behind-the-scenes aspects we didn’t see. While she owns up to many aspects of what transpired, she also said there was much we didn’t see. Obviously this makes sense with the many hours shot, and an edit we see is a condensed version of that. No, not everything is the “edits” fault, but understanding how things are taken out of context is where Ogden sheds light on specific scenarios shown on the show.
Since the show aired, Ogden has received quite a bit of hate on the internet from the keyboard warriors of the world. This sort of action has continued to be an alarming thing to happen when people don’t like someone on a reality TV show. Whether you like someone or not, or like how they move or not, nothing warrants telling people to kill themselves via their inboxes. At the end of the day these people are human beings too, and mental health is real.
Ultimately, I hope you watch this interview with an open mind because Alison shows an authentic version of herself in telling her story. From how she got into the music to the journey that led her to Building the Band to what the future has in store for the talented singer. I enjoyed my chat with Alison, and I hope you do too.
