NBC launched a new competition series titled On Brand with Jimmy Fallon that released on September 30. The show will air every Tuesday and Friday and be available on Peacock the following day. The series is hosted by Jimmy Fallon and Bozoma Saint John, where 10 creatives compete to disrupt the marketing profession. I had the pleasure of chatting with the two guys who had the winning pitches in the first two episodes, Ryan Winn and Mahiri Takai.
What is On Brand with Jimmy Fallon?
Hosted and executive produced by Jimmy Fallon, and featuring Bozoma Saint John as mentor and judge, the series spotlights 10 bold, creative minds competing to disrupt the marketing profession. These everyday idea-makers are challenged to dream up campaigns for some of the world’s most recognizable brands — Captain Morgan, Dunkin’, KitchenAid, Marshalls, Pillsbury, SONIC, Southwest Airlines, Therabody, and more.
Spanning generations and ranging in age from 25 to 60 years old, the contestants come from diverse backgrounds in digital marketing, real estate, content creation, and more. They’re tasked with thinking out of the box to impress the brands and win the opportunity to see their ideas executed in the real world.
Who are Ryan Winn and Mahiri Takai?
Mahiri Takai is a former pastor turned design and branding guru. He’s a father of two and runs a digital media agency in Dallas. He also founded Men’s Fashion Week Dallas, which is now in its 10th year. He’s excited for a new start that will reignite the fire in his career.
Ryan Winn is only 26, but he owns a marketing agency in Nashville where he works with smaller brands and start-ups. He doesn’t have an extensive marketing background, but he does have a wife who helps guide his campaigns.
On Brand with Jimmy Fallon Interview with Mahiri Takai and Ryan Winn
Honestly, this was an eye-opening chat that I had with both Ryan Winn and Mahiri Takai. These two are such brilliant and insightful minds that they had plenty to share about the first two episodes and those two big wins. I look forward to watching these two battle and come up with creative pitches in future episodes.
